Germany's effects
Another country that started their depression shortly after/ because of WWI. A big downfall for Germany was that they had signed the Treaty of Versailles. This treaty states that they will help other countries with their finances to improve their industries. So, to help other countries, they had to constantly print off their currency. But, in order for a country to print off a certain amount of currency, they must have worth behind it. Since they were printing off so much currency and had very little worth for it, their currency then became worthless. With all this money needed from them, they had to get every last bit, so they went even as far as to take peoples' savings. So in 1932, Germany's reparations to other countries was suspended. During this time, unemployment went up to thirty percent. When Adolf Hitler took over in 1933, their Depression began to go away, yet a new worry and tragic events began. This is when they began largely manufacturing firearms , which pushed them further into WWII.
France's effects
The reason France went through a depression was because they had an underdeveloped economy. A big part of France's money comes from people visiting and touring. If they had had better farming, their exports could still be beneficial, but they had always had a weak farming industry. But, because people were very low on money, they were unable to tour France, which left them with less money. Another reason France was in a depression sooner, like the United Kingdom, was because they suffered from WWI. They relied on Germans to repair their damage and pay for their reconstruction but this was also unavailable, making it even harder for them to recover. This is when their Depression took place. In 1934, a riot was held that ended up overthrowing the French government. Since the government was overthrown, Popular Front, a socialist group led the government. But, the new government was hard for people to get used to and didn't work out very well. The result of this was a longer Depression for France and they were the last country to fully recover.
United Kingdom effected
United Kingdom's great depression began shortly after WWI. They had not yet recovered from their depression once America's Great Depression started. This is largely due to the fact that they relied on mostly exporting and other countries' economies went down and couldn't purchase as much from them. So, when the Great Depression in the 1920's hit, it was even harder for the United Kingdom. During the depression, the unemployment rate more than doubled from one million to two and a half million. The employment rate for this country started to increase and get back to normal around 1935. Then, when the second World War came about, it increased the employment rate because men were needed as soldiers. Also, when the Gold Policy was set back into place, banks reduced their rate from six to four percent. After recovering, there was a twenty-five percent increase in their GDP. Their unemployment rate was finally back to normal and hoping to improve.

Overview
The Great Depression was the longest economic downfall in the Western industrialized world. It started after the stock market crash on October 1929. This wiped out most of the investors. Everything was going downhill including industrial output and the level of unemployment decreased. The depression reached its worst point in 1933. During that time, 13-15 million Americans were unemployed. Along with that, about half of the banks failed. By 1933, one-fourth of all farmers lost their land. President D. Roosevelt was president through this tough time. The depression finally ended during WWII when the industry was at a high demand.

Let's Get Started!
The reason I chose the Great Depression was because I want to educate myself more about this troubling time. I also think more people should know about this so that they know that they have it a lot better than people did during this time and hopefully be more grateful. I also believe there is a great chance that we could have another great depression with the way our country is going. The world is turning into a harsh place and it is getting tougher and tougher to hold onto money. Money is becoming a great issue which is why I want to find out how the people in the Great Depression worked through that hard time when money wasn't available.
