Timeline


  • October 1929- Stock market crashes.
  • March 1930- More than 3.2 million people were unemployed
  • February 1931- Food riots began.
  • December 1931- New York's Bank of America collapsed.
  • January 1932- The Reconstruction Finance Corp. was established by congress to lend 2 billion dollars to certain companies and organizations.
  • June 1932- WWI veterans set up encampments by the White House  to pass the bonus bill which was a success.
  • July 1932- The Reconstruction Finance Sorporation lends money to needy states from the National Treasury.
  • November 1932- Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected as president.
  • April 1933- Roosevelt orders the nation off the gold standard.
  • April 1933- The Civilian Conservation Corps was established to help employ men between 17-27 years of age.
  • May 1933- Harry Hopkins gets issued grants more than $5 million dollars by the end of is first day.
